Gotland outreach
The beautiful island of Gotland on the east coast of Sweden turns into a centre for tourism and partying during the months of June, July and August. Many Swedes go there to enjoy their holiday on the white sand beaches or stroll around in the ancient town of Visby. In the evenings bars and night clubs open up and offer parties all night long.
Week 29, also called the “Stockholm week”, in the middle of July is always a peak of the season. That’s when Stockholmers will invade the island to enjoy their holiday and many also take the chance to let go of boundaries. That’s a week when the alcohol flows and the partying is all around. For some years we have been taking a team to Gotland during this week, to reach out to young and old, business men and partying teenagers. Every evening we go down to the harbor, where we give out coffee and start talking to people. As people are relaxed, on holiday, they are open to strike up a conversation and listen to what you have to say. We often end up in good conversations about life and also have the opportunity to pray with many people.
